On 9 August 2025, South Africa witnessed the return of Rosefest, the brainchild of award-winning singer and songwriter Shekhinah. Hosted at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden, the festival once again proved why it’s more than just a concert — it’s a movement, a safe space, and a celebration of women’s artistry.
When Shekhinah launched Rosefest in 2019, her vision was simple yet powerful: to create a platform where women could shine without limitation. This year’s edition carried that torch proudly, with an all-female lineup that spanned genres and generations, from household names to fresh, emerging voices.

Zoë Modiga delivered an iconic performance, blending jazz, soul, and African rhythm in a way that had the audience in awe. Her artistry reminded everyone why she remains one of South Africa’s most magnetic performers.
Elaine, the internationally acclaimed R&B star, graced the stage with a soulful performance that transported the crowd into her world of vulnerability and elegance. Her presence added global flair to the festival.
Rising voices like Filah lah lah, and Lordkez brought energy, edge, and freshness to the lineup, showing that South Africa’s future in music is undeniably female. What made Rosefest extraordinary wasn’t only the performances, but the message: women uplifting women. At a time when female representation in music is still overlooked, Shekhinah’s festival continues to break barriers and plant seeds for lasting change.
